This package includes two high temperature premium silicone membranes with which to build the vacuum former shown in the YouTube video. One membrane is actually used for the build itself and the second membrane is for you to keep on hand as a spare (you will need it). Included with the membranes as a bonus are a FREE set of plans showing you all the dimensions. The included plans have a shopping list along with part / sku numbers telling you where to get all the items to complete the build. The plans include almost 5 pages of Frequent questions asked by people building the project and then detailed answers by Stuart to make the build as easy as possible. Stuart has also added a full page of “Project Notes”. A blueprint is included that shows all the measurements of all the pieces. A cut list is included telling you where and what order to make the cuts so that you maximize your materials and almost no chance of making mistakes. These plans have been successfully used by many people to successfully build their own incredible vacuum former.
Membranes last almost indefinitely but accidents happen. Sooner or later, you will put something into the former with a sharp edge that will puncture the membrane. When that happens, you do not want to have to wait several days for a replacement. By keeping the spare on hand, you will be back up making holsters in just a few minutes.
The free plans show detailed dimensions, a cut list with measurements, and a shopping list telling you where to buy all the materials needed to build this project. It also includes two templates that can be printed out and used to space the holes for drilling. The plans are a FREE download once you purchase the membranes. Upon shipment of your membrane order, you are emailed a link to download the free plans. Again, the plans are FREE with the purchase of the membranes. We do not sell just the plans.
Please note that the plans are downloaded using an access key that identifies each set of plans. The access key is emailed to you when your order ships. The plans are in Adobe .pdf format. We recommend you update Adobe Acrobat reader at Adobe.com if having trouble with the download. You MUST save the download on your computer before trying to open it. Some Ipad and Ipod users have reported issues in downloading so please use a computer to download if at all possible. Please use a wi-fi connection for the download and not a cellular connection. When checking out, do not use a Hotmail address or you will not receive a link to download the plans. For some reason, Hotmail filters out all the mail from our webserver.
Also, the prices / costs associated with building the vacuum former will fluctuate based upon the prices those vendors charge for the materials. We have no control over their stock status or prices.
The PVC lumber used in the video was purchased from Home Depot and is one inch thick. Home Depot actually calls it 1 1/4″ thick just like a 2×4 piece of lumber is not actually 2 x 4 inches. Several people have reported difficulty in finding the PVC lumber in their local Home Depot stores. We STRONGLY recommend you visit the Home Depot website and enter your location and determine if your local store carries that product. Most Lowes and Menard’s stores also carry a similar type of product. We know that people in Miami, Arizona, and Southern California have reported not finding the PVC lumber in their local stores. There are most likely others also, so check first.
Visit the Home Depot Website and check your local store for the PVC Lumber in the one inch thickness. You can cut and paste the following link in your browser:
Several people have reported that the supplier for the magnets has increased the price of the 3/4″ magnets or that the magnets are out of stock. Therefore, we recommend now using the 5/8″ or 1/2″ magnets. You MUST change the size of your Forstner drill bit also if you change the size of the magnets used. All this information has been updated in the revised plans.
Don’t cheat yourself! For what you will pay for just the membranes alone, you are getting tons of free knowledge and tips from Stuart. In addition, we roll the membranes, ship them in a tube mailer via priority mail. We don’t fold the membrane , stuff them in an envelope and mail the cheapest way possible like someone else we know. Folding the membranes is not good for them. Most orders placed by 7pm EST will ship out the next business day.
