Kydex VACUUM FORMER FORMING PRESS

The ThermaPress VF-1 is the most versatile and most advanced bench top vacuum former press ever built.  It is the last vacuum former for kydex holster making you will ever need . . .until you need a second one.  This vacuum forming press was designed for professionals vacuum forming kydex holsters and knife sheaths but because of its versatility, it can vacuum form many different thermoplastics and products.

Key Features:

  • The fastest direct vacuum draw on the market.
  • Constructed of strong solid materials that have been CNC machined, not made from mold injected plastic.
  • Diamond flow technology vacuum chamber is more efficient than chambers with square grid patterns.
  • Achieve a full 29.5 inches of mercury vacuum . . every single time when used with a quality vacuum pump and quality gauges.  There is no such thing as 30 inches of vacuum despite what others may tell you.
  • Modular construction allows it to be updated, upgraded, and parts replaced without having to ship it to us for repair should it ever become damaged or if any part of the VF1 should wear out (which is highly unlikely). We can just ship you out a replacement part. Many of the parts can be obtained at your local home center to avoid minimal down time.  No other kydex vacuum former in the industry can do that.
  • 100% User serviceable.  No need to ever send it back for repair.
  • Large 14 x 19 work area is just the right size and fits on a standard counter top.  There is no need to build a custom size work bench to put it on.  If a vacuum press is too large, it takes longer to achieve full vacuum.  A large press,  for example a 24 x 24 inch press, will not fit on a standard counter top or workbench and takes almost 100% longer to achieve a full vacuum. When vacuum forming, every second counts to achieve the best possible definition.
  • Silicone Membrane is bolted in place.  No more slipping magnets or struggling with taller items.
  • Designed to work with the ThermaJig.
  • Dual Seal Technology means no leaks and no gaskets to replace. The VF-1 will hold vacuum longer and tighter than any other press on the market.
  • Allows for membrane free vacuum forming with our optional direct forming kit. This is the only convertible, dual purpose press on the market.
  • The VSS (vacuum storage system) can easily be added at any time to turbo charge your vacuum speed and improve your molding definition even more but is certainly not needed.
  • Full size one inch intake tube allows you to add your own surge tank later.
  • Solid brass ball valves included for heavy duty use.  No cheap plastic control valves or push buttons.
  • Will not warp or crack.
  • Steel lid hinges will not crack or break like plastic hinges.
  • Some assembly required.  Requires a Phillips screwdriver, #2 square drive, a 7/16 nut driver, adjustable wrench, and pliers.
  • Ambidextrous controls- set it up with the controls on the right or left side. This is a huge feature when running two VF-1 formers that share a vacuum pump between them or if you are a lefty.
  • Can be connected and operational within just a few minutes.
  • Requires at least a minimum 3 c.f.m. vacuum pump to operate, 5 CFM recommend, 8 CFM is best (must be purchased elsewhere)
  • The VF-1 has 3 years of product testing and development behind it before being brought to market.  No one has more experience than us when it comes to building vacuum formers for the kydex holster industry.
  • Made and assembled in the United States of America in our facility outside Atlanta, Georgia.
  •  ** Full One year warranty. ***ss

Check out the video below where we show you how tough our press is and how it is capable of molding taller items.  This is just an example and most people mold with flat split molds instead of vertically as shown in the video.  You just cannot do this if the membrane is held in place with magnets.  Much larger presses using a magnetic system can do this but are very inefficient.  Also notice how we show you real application testing of our press instead of showing you a video of us driving a pickup truck on top of it.  We know our customers are smarter than that.  While our press will support the weight of a pickup truck, we believe in honest, relevant advertising.  This press is a tool and tools have an intended purpose.  For example, we use jack stands or ramps to support a pickup truck and use our vacuum former for well . . . vacuum forming.

5 out of 5 This is the best press money can buy...

Did this product meet your expectations? I just can't say enough about how great it is.

How well was this item packaged? Best Packaging I have ever seen.

How would you rate customer service before and after purchase? Excellent.

Would you purchase this product again? Most definitely.

I purchased this press after my homemade press developed an issue that I didn’t care to solve frankly. So I did my research and settled on Stuart’s ThermaPress vacuum former. I settled on this for a couple reasons. First, my other vacuum former was built off his design that I purchased in early 2015 and ran flawless for 2 years and thousands of holsters. Second, I knew his VF-1 press was CNC machined and would be of infinitely higher build quality than the press that I built and I was not wrong about that. Third, the customer service I received after purchasing this press was second to none, as he promised. I can say that because in my former life I was a professional chef for 20+ years and spent the majority of my life in the customer service industry. This holster making gig started as a hobby and ended up a great business so I retired from it and now I only cook for fun.

I’ve had this press in operation for about 90 days now so I have gotten extensive use out of it. I had a few bugs to deal with after I set the press up and I don’t have any issue telling you all of them were self inflicted. I over tightened a fitting and cracked it. Stuart sent me the fitting immediately at no cost. Now that’s service. He spent an hour with me on the phone, drilling down leaks in the MY plumbing and confirming there was no issue with the press. Once we, and I do mean we, got this press up and running, it runs flawlessly.

It holds an amazing vacuum so you never have to over work your pump. The only caution I can give you about this particular former is you need to inspect all your mold guns and anything else you mold to make sure there are no sharp edges. This vacuum former pulls and pulls hard, so if you have any sharp edges on any of your molds I promise you’ll be buying more membranes.

In the last 90 days this former has produced over 200 weapon holsters, countless mag carriers and even some wallets. It’s fast, accurate and yields exceptional mold quality. Buy this press, you won’t be disappointed, I promise. If you are disappointed, contact me and I’ll buy it from you: AWRTactical@gmail.com

      Hi Kevin,
Thank you so much for being a customer, now friend, and for your awesome review. I also appreciate the fact that you logged in under your account so it shows that you are a verified owner before leaving your review. That is quite an impressive endorsement. I have to say though, you are still a chef. Except, now you are cooking up kydex. Cool background info. Thanks! 🙂

Very impressed with the way the product arrived, it was very well packaged . Assembly was just straight forward as Stuart indicated, and in minutes I was breaking in the membrane. Very well constructed press, I expect to be enjoying for years. Works great with my 8cfm pump, pulling 30 inches immediately and holds over 20 inches of vacuum for 5-6 hours. If I leave a holster in the former after working on an evening project, there is still a little vacuum the following morning.

I purchased the membranes and plans a few months ago. I just never got around to building the vacuum former. When I learned the membranes I already purchased would fit into the new thermapress, it was a no brainer for me. Stuart has done an incredible job with this vacuum press. It was easy to put together, the packaging was so good that a truck could have run over it and not hurt it. I ordered the pump he suggested from Amazon. I have not made a holster yet, as I am still waiting on my kydex to come in. But, I have tested this thing over and over. Mine is holding vacuum for over an hour. I think my gauge is a little off because it only shows it going to 28. Stuart called me the day after I received it to see if I needed anything. I would definitely purchase this again. Just one thing, Stuart, you need to fix the window for leaving a review on your website. The window is too small and I had a hard time typing this.
