The new Vacuum Storage System or VSS is a DIY kit that you assemble. We have done all the engineering, machining, and plumbing to come up with a fantastic kit that can be assembled in about two hours and mounted underneath your ThermaPress VF-1. Just follow along with the video located in the members section. The most difficult (actually rather easy) part is gluing the PVC fittings together. The kit contains everything you need except for PVC glue. Thread tape is also required but you should still have the roll of tape we sent you with your VF-1. All you need to assemble is a couple of adjustable or crescent wrenches and a #2 square driver.
The VSS is like a twin turbo for your VF-1. It includes twin vacuum storage tubes, a full 1″ brass ball valve, a vacuum check valve, an additional vacuum gauge, and all the necessary fittings and adapters to assemble. With the VSS, your VF-1 will go from 0″ of vacuum to a full 29.5″ of vacuum faster than you can blink. This instant momentum sucks the kydex down further and deeper over just using a vacuum pump alone. The included check valve is designed for vacuum and eliminates the back flow into your vacuum pump, thus eliminating you having to manually turn a pump valve. This leaves that hand freed up to open the massive 1″ brass ball valve for the ultimate vacuum rush! The included check valve is not a PVC water check either, not glued into place, and properly sized for this system. So if the valve ever fails, it is easily replaced without having to tear everything up.
The VSS helps to make up for using a slower CFM vacuum pump if you are using something smaller than 8CFM. So it is good choice for those folks wanting to upgrade their vacuum draw speed without having to buy a new pump. We still however, recommend using this with a minimum of a 3CFM pump.
The included vacuum gauge works in conjunction with your existing vacuum gauge on the VF-1. This gives you two operational gauges. One gauge tells you the amount of vacuum in the twin tanks, while the other gauge tells you the vacuum inside the chamber of the VF-1.
In addition, the VSS adds additional accessory ports so you can add whatever your heart desires such as connecting to a second VF-1, another vacuum pump, or vacuum filter. We also recommend a foot pedal switch when running the VF-1 with the VSS.
